Strong period of growth leads to key promotion in Tavistock
Tavistock accountants and business advisors Baldwins have made a key senior promotion following a period of strong growth.
Ben Sharland has been with the firm since 2006 and has now been promoted from Office Manager to Associate Director at Baldwins’ office in Bedford Square. The office services local businesses across Devon & Cornwall alongside the firm’s other offices across the region.
He will continue to advise local businesses via services such as preparing accounts, tax planning, VAT and auditing, while also overseeing the growth of the Tavistock office.
Ben, who combined his accountancy studies while working with the firm, said: “Joining Potter Baker in 2006 was a great way of being able to combine my interest in numeracy and business – since then I haven’t looked back and have learnt so much.
“I’m thrilled to have reached director level after being given the perfect environment to develop my expertise which I can pass on to the local business community.
“These are testing times for businesses in general due to the uncertainty surrounding Brexit and Making Tax Digital and, as business advisors, our immediate priority is helping firms to prepare for a range of outcomes. This we are ideally placed to do as part of the Baldwins Group which has a range of dedicated specialist services.”
Andrew Baker, who has been a Partner at the firm for more than 30 years and has overseen Ben’s development, added “Ben is a great example for aspiring accountants to model themselves on and he reinforces the firm’s commitment to developing its workforce.
“The vast majority of our staff are from the region and have unrivalled knowledge of the Devon & Cornwall business landscape which, combined with Baldwins’ resources and specialised services, positions us to help our clients to flourish.”
