Baldwins continue Southern expansion with Davisons

One of the UK’s fastest growing accountancy practices is expanding into the South West for the first time.

Davisons Chartered Accountants, who have offices in South Molton and Holsworthy, have joined forces with the Baldwins Accountancy Group. The firm will continue trading as Davisons.

The firm’s 56 members of staff will continue to operate out of both offices, servicing around 2,500 clients across various sectors including farming, tourism, manufacturing, construction, care homes and professional practices.

Davisons was founded in Devon in 1943, and is a leading regional accountancy firm providing a broad range of accountancy services with particular specialisms in succession planning, inheritance tax and capital gains tax.

This latest deal for both offices takes Baldwins’ total number of offices to 42 across the UK, employing 1,250 staff with an annual turnover of circa £65 million.

Matthew Gard will remain as managing director at Davisons, supported by the same management team.

He said: “Working with Baldwins will truly help us to take the business to the next level and help us to develop our agricultural expertise on a national scale.

“We’ve built the business up to where it is today through reputation and word of mouth. By working with Baldwins, our clients will now have access to a greater pool of experts offering specialist services such as banking and finance, auto enrolment and business recovery.

“As part of Baldwins’ investment and support, Davisons is looking to expand its reach across the South West and plans are afoot to recruit more skilled staff over the coming months.

“We are joining a Group that is focused on providing a personalised service to local communities, and we are looking forward to the opportunities it will bring for our clients and staff.”

Shaun Knight, head of corporate finance at Baldwins, believes the combination of his firm’s corporate expertise with Davisons’ agricultural nous and local knowledge provides the perfect platform for future growth in assisting entrepreneurial and SME businesses in Devon.

He added: “Baldwins has a strategic aim to expand its offices in certain areas of the UK, and the South West is an area of untapped potential for us for which Matthew and his team share the same ambitions.

“Davisons’ growth over the years is testament to how big the agricultural sector is, and is now amongst one of the biggest sectors in the wide range of sectors we are servicing.

“This deal spells fantastic news for the region’s businesses as they’ll now be able to access further expertise around ways they can develop their business with access to finance as well as navigating any risks posed by tax.”
