Baldwins are delighted to be sponsoring the reopening of Durham Cathedral’s Central Tower on the 1st June.

The reopening will mean that visitors will once again be able to take on the challenging 325 step climb to take in the unrivalled views of Durham and beyond for the first time in over three years. It is only from this height that the beautiful dapple effect of the new sandstone merging with the old can be fully appreciated.

David Baldwin, Board Director, said: ‘I’m delighted that we are sponsoring the re-opening of the Tower.  It’s so important that we all work together to preserve iconic buildings such as Durham Cathedral for future generations.  As a business, we’re passionate about working with local communities and organisations to protect our historic and cultural sites and we look forward to working with Durham Cathedral for many years to come.’

Matthew Kirk, Relationship and Development Manager at Durham Cathedral, said: ‘After several years of essential repairs the Central Tower will once again be open for our local communities and visitors from further afield to ascend. We count it as a privilege to be working closely with Baldwins yet again, this time as the official sponsors for the re-opening of the Central Tower. Their sponsorship will go a long way towards helping us keep our doors open, visitors happy and repair work on track. We are very thankful for the relationships we have with local businesses like Baldwins and are excited for the opportunity the Tower re-opening provides to showcase what they do and how their business has enormous potential to help the North East.’
