Baldwins Acquires McCranors of Coventry Print E-mail

Accountancy firm announces latest acquisition

One of the Midland's largest accountancy firms, Baldwins, has announced its acquisition of leading Coventry practice McCranors. The new business will be known as Baldwin McCranor from Friday 2nd March 2012.

McCranors is the latest in a string of acquisitions as the ambitious family-owned Baldwins group extends its presence throughout the region. The firm already operates eight partner-led offices each offering comprehensive service lines that include audit, tax and small business services. Due to the close proximity of this latest acquisition to Baldwins’ existing Nuneaton office, the two will merge in early April with Baldwins Nuneaton staff moving across to McCranors Coventry offices; creating one of the largest practices across Coventry and Warwickshire.

The evolved business will offer strength-in-depth across all accountancy practice areas and will build on the strong reputations of both firms and a shared ethos; the delivery of a personal and partner led service with an in-depth understanding of clients’ businesses and the issues they face.

Partner and head of Baldwins Nuneaton, John Edwards, who will also continue as a partner in the new business, commented: “This is an exciting opportunity for all concerned. The bringing together of two well known and successful accountancy practices in the Warwickshire area will help us to continue to improve our offering to existing clients and should give us sufficient momentum to accelerate our organic growth. With our in-house expertise and the support of Baldwin’s specialists across the region, we are able to provide an offering normally associated with national firms. The merger of the two offices will undoubtedly bring new opportunities for staff from both offices to progress their careers within the Baldwins Group.”

Head of Baldwins Group, John Baldwin said: “We’re delighted to have completed this acquisition and look forward to amalgamating the two practices to create a true accountancy powerhouse for Coventry and the surrounding region. Similar in outlook and culture, Baldwins and McCranors are a complementary fit, sharing the same commitment to excellent client service, which will remain a core strength of the merged firm. This will deliver great opportunities for Baldwin McCranor and I share John’s excitement for the future of our latest practice.”

Peter West, partner of McCranor and of the new combined business commented: “With Baldwins and McCranors joining forces, I am confident clients will continue to receive the same level of high quality, pragmatic, technically superior advice and support we have built our reputation on. From a personal point of view this development will enable me to continue to work with my clients with the added infrastructure and specialist services that the larger Baldwins group can bring to them. It is an exciting future for us all and I am delighted to be part of it.”
